Finally got around to making a dA-account! It's been on my to do-list for quite a while now, but sadly I've lacked the material to base it on.
Well, frankly speaking, I still do. Those couple HS shots are only the beginning! Hopefully.
I've been cosplaying for a couple of years now, with no merits worth mentioning. It's mostly been "cool costumes vaguely based on something", with a couple
of more serious takes. Most notably group cosplays of the Death Korps of Krieg from WH40k and the Nights Watch from GoT. Apart from that I've mostly been fulfilling my uniform fetish and having more fun with my friends than I thought humanly possible.
Now that was the past, in this paragraph I'll tell you who the hell I am and what is going on currently.
Pleased to make your acquaintance, I'm Erik, a 21 year old lad from Finland. I've been working as a part time teacher and at the moment I command a tank for 12€ a day in the Finnish Defence Forces. Which is kinda rad. However, by 20th of June I'll be a civil- (oh wait I won't.) part of the reserves again, which gives me more time to take cosplay seriously. And actually live somewhat normally. A year from now I'll also be applying to the Law school again, which pretty much renders me infirm for 10 weeks.
My hobbies mainly include (not including the obvious) band activity, video games, tabletop games, role-playing games, medieval martial arts, gym and sitting in my computer chair thinking I should probably do something. Been thinking of picking up practical shooting as well, but that shit ain't cheap so I'll have to see about that.
But that don't interest you, does it. Let's talk about funny costumes instead.
So I decided to step it up this year, meaning I'll actually do established characters instead of nameless redshirts.
The list so far:
Jon Snow - I did our favourite emo bastard earlier this year, but never got any photographs of the costume. Mainly because I missed my Longclaw, as the smith working on it (I commissioned an actual sword, as I practice hitting people with them and try to expand my arsenal) mysteriously vanished for a couple months. So no sword for me. I'm going to hone the costume during the summer and get myself a longsword from somewhere else, so Jon is definitely on the list for the next winter. Which is coming. And I know nothing.
Ivan the Apprentice - Oglaf is pretty much my most loved webcomic, and Ivan definitely strikes me as a character I can identify with. To a certain extent. So no hasty conclusions here!
We'll also be having an Oglaf group, which will undoubtedly result in loads of fun and disturbing photos.
Booker DeWitt - Now cosplaying as a man more than 15 years older than me brings with it some challenges. However I love the game, the design and the characters so I'm pretty much left without a choice. At the very least I'll be learning a lot. I will also be having some rather talented company, so I'm pretty excited about the whole ordeal!
Kuchiki Byakuya - Bleach was a pleasant experience back in the day. However I dropped it soon after the Hueco Mundo arc begun, and I haven't regretted that decision. That being said, we have a group coming up for the sake of nostalgia. I was cast as Byakuya for me being as apathetic as he is. Preposterously slanderous.
Loki - Yeah I'm sticking my d in the hornet's nest with this one, I reckon. But I dig the design and look forward to constructing the whole costume, the armour version of course. Who could resist those magnificent antlers. Luckily I will be accompanied with talent exceeding my own, so that should keep me from taking shortcuts with the costume.
Fix-It Felix - I was supposed to do him for a group, but with the army taking up most of my time, I ran short. Maybe in the future.
Hei the Black Reaper - Darker Than Black is one of my favourite anime series and I've done Hei once in the past. With less than flattering results. My mask got fuxored and my wig turned out not to be exactly what I thought I had bought.
Guybrush Threepwood - Was supposed to do this a year or two back, but that never happened either. I still have the fabrics left, so maybe this too will happen some day. Also my very first cosplay ever. It was awful.
Robert Lutece - A great mind. A great man. A great fashion sense. Totally on my list.
So, that's basically it. My plans have a tendency of becoming undone so let's see what happens! I sincerely hope there will be no letdowns this year, tho.
Oh and a big thanks to everyone that has favourited and/or followed me, I'll try to meet your expectations!
...if there are any.
